About this role

HOURS: 35 hours per week to include ad hoc evenings (Mon-Fri)

The University of Buckingham has a unique atmosphere, unlike that of any other higher educational institution. Despite being the UK’s smallest university and the only independent university to hold a Royal Charter, Buckingham has staff from over 60 countries, making it a truly distinctive work environment. Whichever of our locations you find yourself working in, you will be sure to feel a part of our friendly community. Our size enables us to foster a very personalised, supportive, inclusive and collaborative environment, with lots of opportunity for development, something which we are very proud of.

The Corporate and Professional Services departments are the cornerstone of the University. They each provide essential and valuable support to both each other and the Academic departments, helping the University to function in the most efficient and productive way, ensuring that the students’ experience is second to none.

Due to the need to initiate workloads very quickly, the successful candidate should have a strong understanding of HE and/or FE settings, ideally currently or recently employed within the sector.

Duties will include:

To deliver administrative processes across the Faculty as determined by the Faculty Registrar. To deliver front-line administrative services within their allocated domain or cohort, including day-to-day academic and student enquiries and preparation and sending of communications to stakeholders. To support the Faculty’s senior administrative staff to maintain the necessary resources for the delivery of the curriculum and to liaise with academic staff as necessary to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the curriculum. To provide support - face-to-face and online to students across the faculty. To liaise with staff in the University’s Student Services Teams to ensure students are correctly signposted to University services. To liaise with staff in the University’s Student Administration Team to ensure accurate student records are maintained.

The post also demands knowledge of MS Office 365, strong customer service and communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, analytical and problem solving capability, understanding of University structures and systems as well as Apprenticeships, and wider sector/external awareness together with an ability to contribute to service and policy development.

Knowledge of eVision/SITS would be advantageous although full training will be given.

We know that sometimes people can be put off applying for a job if they think they can’t tick every box, but we are invested in our people and their development, so we encourage you to apply if you believe you have the majority of the skills and experience required and are keen to develop further!

Informal enquiries may be made to Barny Lord ([email protected]).

The closing date for applications is Wednesday 22nd April 2026, and it is anticipated that interviews will be held on the week commencing 27th April 2026.

Please note: if successful, any offer is subject to standard checks, including qualifications, eligibility to work in the UK on a permanent basis and DBS (if applicable)
