REQUIREMENTS

• A Master of Divinity from a currently accredited institution • 400 hours (1 unit) of accredited clinical pastoral education or equivalent • 5+ years of experience, at least two of them in a clinical setting • Current good standing with your body of faith • Excellent interpersonal skills • Reliable transportation

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a home care hospice chaplain, you will serve as a spiritual resource for patients and families of all faiths, denominations and cultural backgrounds on the end-of-life journey.

You will help patients feel safe and comfortable at a crucial turning point in their lives, validating their beliefs without judgment. You will go above and beyond to ensure your patients complete their journeys with comfort, dignity, and peace of mind.

You will also:

• Help plan and participate in funeral services. • Conduct special ceremonies for veterans • Educate the community on the benefits of hospice • Have opportunities to provide special services, such as officiating weddings, overseeing butterfly releases, and performing Blessings of the Hands

You will give your best each day in service of our core commitment: Delivering compassionate, personalized care with heartfelt empathy, honoring the wishes of each patient who entrusts VITAS with their end-of-life journey.

WHERE YOU’LL WORK

You will spend most of your time caring for hospice patients wherever they call home, whether that means a private residence or an assisted living/skilled nursing facility.

You will typically make 4-6 visits each day.

Once a week, you’ll visit the local program office to meet with an interdisciplinary team, including social workers, physicians, nurses and aides, who collaborate to provide holistic support for the patients and families we serve.
