Job summary
Yorkshire Health Network (YHN) is looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to work 12 hours per week at our Leon Smallwood Unit in Ripon. This is a newly created role and is an exciting opportunity to join a team of dedicated professionals who promote shared working and collaboration to support the sustainability of primary care for local people.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within the multi-disciplinary team to support the clinical team in delivering high quality primary care services to patients. Working under the direct supervision of the clinical team, the role involves direct patient contact and is vital in promoting patients health and well-being.
The Healthcare Assistant will work Tuesday to Friday between the hours of 18:00-20:00 and a Saturday 08:30-12:30 to support the delivery of the Enhanced Access Service.

Job description Job responsibilities
Provide fundamental quality care for patients.Contribute to quality improvement.Promote health and prevent ill health to support people to improve and maintain their mental and physical health and wellbeing.Ensure care environment is clean and tidy at all times meeting IPC requirements.Provide chaperoning support for patients during clinical examinations if required.Perform clinical tasks such as: Blood pressure monitoring, ECG recordings, Urinalysis and specimen collection, Height, weight, and BMI measurement and Phlebotomy.Sterilise and clean equipment.Update equipment stock lists and reporting on stock levels to ensure timely ordering or stock and incorporating stock rotation.Clear and re-stock consulting rooms.Assist with the delivery of Quality & Outcomes Framework.Process and management of laboratory samples within point of care testing.Assist in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being.Undertake specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual.Help to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted.Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care.Ensure accurate and timely entry of clinical data into electronic health records.Adhere to infection control policies and safety regulations.Ensure care environment is clean and tidy at all times and that IPC requirements are met. This includes (but is not limited to) being responsible for completing the room cleaning audit sheet at the end of a session and ensuring clinical waste is emptied and taken to the outside bin.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Handling confidential and sensitive information. Commitment to patient-centered, holistic care. Experience in providing primary care across a range of conditions and age groups. Knowledge of confidentiality, safeguarding, and data protection regulations in the NHS.
Desirable
Clinical systems.
Qualifications Essential
Competence in venipuncture, blood pressure measurement, and other basic clinical tasks. Care Certificate or equivalent training
Desirable
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent healthcare qualification.
