This post is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract for a Band 6 Infant Feeding Specialist.

We are seeking a dedicated Infant Feeding Specialist to join our maternity and neonatal team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on infant health and parental wellbeing.

Main duties of the job
Provide expert advice to parents and carers on infant feeding Support the Lead Infant feeding specialist on the implementation of Baby Friendly Initiative standards. Deliver staff training and education to promote consistent, evidence-based feeding support. Work collaboratively with midwives, health visitors, neonatal staff, and community teams. Support audits, data collection, and service development to improve infant feeding outcomes Deputise for the band 7 in their absence, provide clinical skills within educational and clinical areas.

Qualifications Essential
Bachelors (BSc) Degree in Midwifery or equivalent Registered and practising midwife
Desirable
Practice assessor or prepared to work towards Foundation in patient experience course
Experience Essential
Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of midwifery in all areas of the service including working within the community setting. Substantive experience in area of special interest ie antenatal, postnatal, labour care, community
Desirable
Experience of managing complaints or feedback.
Technical Skills Essential
Up to date core skills/training Able to mentor students Completed preceptorship program Keyboard skills and ability to use IT equipment and associated maternity database. Competent and able to provide midwifery care in all areas Manual dexterity Articulate with excellent communication skills
Desirable
Collecting/generating data IT literate - confident with Excel, powerpoint. Report writing Confident to have challenging conversations.
