Job Description Senior Biomedical Scientist - Histology

Leeds Hospital | Pathology | Permanent | Full Time |

37.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job As a Senior Biomedical Scientist, you will:

Deliver high-quality Histopathology service.

Perform preventative maintenance of laboratory instruments before use.

Perform manual and automated laboratory investigations safely, efficiently, and meeting agreed timelines.

Maintain reagent management procedures effectively.

Perform tissue and specimen dissection activities within scope of practice.

Monitor and assess the accuracy of laboratory investigations using appropriate quality control procedures in place.

Oversee the calibration and maintanance of laboratory instruments. and performance issues to Laboratory Management.

Escalate potential service delivery risks and failures to the , Laboratory Management and Clinical Lead.

Participate in pre-analytical and post-analytical specimen and result processing and management.

Work with senior staff to implement corrective actions where issues arise.

Manage urgent and time-sensitive samples and assess the suitability of specimens for analysis.

Help ensure we deliver the very best experience for patients.

As a Senior Biomedical Scientist at our Leeds Hospital, you'll bring the relevant qualifications and laboratory experience in multidisciplinary biomedical science. You have a good working knowledge of different analytical equipment in a range of techniques. You're also a natural communicator and team player, and you share our idea of quality.

As a Senior Biomedical Scientist, you will:

Essential Requirements

IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology or equivalent. Previous recent experience working in a UKAS accredited Histopathology laboratory.

Proven experience in specimen dissection and biopsy preparation. Experience of quality management systems and audit processes. Experience in service improvement and development initiatives. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
