About this role

Job summary

We are seeking a motivated GP to join us for a fixed term of 6 months under the GP Reimbursement Scheme, to provide additional clinical capacity whilst maintaining safe, sustainable workloads for the whole team.

Main duties of the job

Fixed-term salaried GP post for 6 months 4 sessions per week (days negotiable) Protected CPD time (pro rata) Access to the NHS Pension Scheme (subject to eligibility) Workload and job plan We are committed to safe, clearly defined workloads and realistic expectations. A draft job plan will be agreed with the successful candidate and will typically include: A defined number of patient contacts per session, appropriate to experience and complexity A mix of facetoface, telephone and online consultations Time for associated administration (results, referrals, repeat prescriptions, tasks) Participation in practice meetings and clinical discussions where appropriate Reasonable involvement in duty/oncall sessions by agreement, with workload safeguards We review job plans regularly and are open to discussion about how sessions are structured to support worklife balance and safe practice.

About us

Arnold Medical Centre is a GMS practice serving approximately 6100 patients in South Shore Blackpool. We are a supportive, well organised team comprising of 2 GP partners,1 salaried GP,1 ANP ,1 Paramedic, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 HCA and ARRS roles.

Experienced management and administrative staff. We use EMIS Web and have strong links with our Primary Care Network and local community services.

Job description Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP in delivering health services.

The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract

To clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly referring patients to other services/agencies in a timely manner, utilising Practice and any other local guidelines

Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care

Effective management of long-term conditions

To support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care

Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

Review medications following the appropriate policies, NICE/local clinical guidelines and local care pathways

Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

Support the delivery of anticipatory care plans

Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training

Be aware of your duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children

Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies

Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement

To be an integral part of the general practice team as well as supporting the wider network and multi-disciplinary team

There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks, this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels

Wider responsibilities

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Salaried GP has the following wider responsibilities:

Participate in the spectrum of clinical governance processes

Participate in formal training events promoting best practice in area of expertise Provide leadership and education for members of the multi-disciplinary team, providing guidance and support when necessary

Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Qualified GP MRCGP Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) Full GMC registration Performers List registration noting that confirmation on this list is adequate for DBS confirmation Appropriate defence indemnity Evidence of current validation Evidence of last appraisal Eligibility to practice in the UK independently Experience Ability to both work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team Experience of working in a primary care environment Experience of providing home visits General understanding of the primary care contract Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice An appreciation of the NHS landscape and relationship between individual organisations, PCNs and the commissioners Clinical knowledge and skills Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced GP Understanding of the importance of evidence-based practice

Desirable
