Job summary
As a Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care by collecting high-quality blood samples from patients across Frimley Park Hospital, as well as local sites including Farnham Hospital and the Aldershot Centre for Health.
Working within both inpatient wards and outpatient departments, you will help ensure that accurate and timely blood samples are available for diagnostic testing, enabling clinicians to make effective treatment decisions.
You will receive full training and ongoing supervision to develop your skills and confidence in all aspects of phlebotomy, infection control, and patient communication.
This role requires professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail to maintain high standards of patient safety and comfort.

Main duties of the job
As a key member of the phlebotomy team, your primary duty will be to obtain accurate and safe blood samples from patients in both ward and outpatient settings. You will provide a professional, caring, and reassuring service to patients, ensuring all samples are correctly labelled and promptly delivered to the laboratory. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with good manual dexterity and the ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure. You will work both independently and as part of a supportive team, adapting to changing workloads and covering other local sites as required. The department operates Monday to Friday, 08:00-17:00, with rotational cover for bank holidays. Flexibility is key. This is an entry-level Band 2 position, with the opportunity to progress to Band 3 following successful completion of training and competency assessments. Full support and supervision will be provided throughout your development.

Qualifications Essential
GCSEs in English and Math's. Successful applicants will have to undertake an English and Maths assessment prior to interview. Trained in Phlebotomy
Desirable
Aspirations to achieve relevant QCF. Venepuncture certificate or evidence of training Desire and aspiration to achieve phlebotomy competency.
Skills and Knowledge Essential
Ability to work methodically and accurately, paying attention to detail Computer Literacy Good communication
Desirable
Knowledge of medical terminology Ability to speak other languages.
Experience Essential
Customer service experience.
Desirable
Worked as a Phlebotomist in the NHS Previous experience in a Health care environmet Health care experience with direct patient care
Special Requirements Essential
Can undertake an initial 6-week training programme running concurrently over five days per week. Ability to stand and bend for prolonged periods Ability to work in environment with frequent exposure to body fluids and biological hazards and for prolonged periods of standing and bending.

Ability to travel between suits.
