Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 7 Paediatric Dietitian to join our friendly and forward-thinking Nutrition and Dietetics team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Dietitian to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering a specialist Paediatric Diabetes dietetic service for Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
You will also be covering 2 general paediatric and 2 GP clinics per months so if you enjoy variety this role will suit you. Specialist clinical skills, a highly professional attitude along with excellent communication skills,organizational skills and a caring and compassionate nature are essential for this post.
Main duties of the job
?To assess, diagnose, manage, plan, and deliver dietetic treatment programmes within Paediatric Diabetes for children and young people with Diabetes.
To provide Paediatric Dietetic Assessment and Management on the Children's Ward and MDT clinics.
To work as an autonomous practitioner providing a highly specialist, evidence based dietetic service to patients across the service.
To be an excellent Team member who builds good rapport with patients and staff and is flexible in their working patterns
To be responsible for the provision, quality, and continuous development of the Paediatric Dietetic Diabetes services.
To be an active member of the Diabetes MDT providing Dietetic patient management, patient and staff training and the ongoing development and evaluation of Paediatric Diabetes Services withing the Trust.
To provide expert advice and support to other dietitians and other healthcare professionals including medical staff, AHP's, Nursing staff.
? To act as the Trust dietetic advisor on all aspects of hospital catering. This will involve close working with the hospital facilities team, ward staff and the private catering contractor.
? To provide 2 GP clinics per month in Primary Care

Education/Qualifications Essential
BSc in Nutrition & Dietetics or BSc in relevant Science plus post graduate diploma in Dietetics HCPC Registered dietitian Member of BDA
Desirable
Member of the Paediatric Group of the BDA
Experience Essential
Extensive and relevant experience in general dietetics post qualification Previous experience of working in the NHS Substantial experience of managing a paediatric caseload. Experience of running clinics independently Experience of managing paediatric patients with Diabetes
Desirable
Previous experience in menu planning and catering audit
Skills /Abilities Essential
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team Ability to work under own direction Excellent verbal & written communication skills Ability to carry out audits, service reviews/improvements. Excellent teaching skills
