Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts, the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Medway Community Healthcare. Nursing vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses.

You will act as an ambassador for theService, promoting the highest standards of excellence in working practices. You will employ a cohesive team approach, developing and strengtheningpartnership working both internally and externally.

Main duties of the job

You will need to be able to work in a very busy environment whilst remaining calm and be able to deliver services effectively through challengingsituations, so the ability to work independently, proactively and under pressure isimportant. A positive attitude, excellent clinical skills and a commitment to bestpractice in clinical care and continued professional development is essential.

To deliver all aspects of Oral Health Promotion (OHP) programmes as required by the Service in line with service specifications.

The Outreach Dental Therapist will be required to oversee and provide a bespoke programme of evidence based oral health improvement interventions and training informed by national and local strategies across NE London to targeted groups by direct action and by working in tandem with and providing direct line supervision to Dental Therapist's and Extended Duties Dental Nurse's.

These interventions will include but not limited to: the fluoride varnish programme, the supervised toothbrushing programme and training other health and social care professionals on oral health. It will also include participation in epidemiology fieldwork.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Diploma/ Degree in Dental Therapy GDC Registered Dental Therapist plus specialist training & experience of specific client groups with multiple complex needs to master's level equivalent Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

Management or supervisory qualification / programme of study

Experience Essential

Experience in area of practice Experience of health inequalities and partnership working Experience of co-ordinating the planning, delivery and evaluation of an intervention

Desirable

Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of IT packages (E-Pay / Eroster/ TAPS/ CIS Experience in community engagement and training groups Experience of supervision and or management of a team

Knowledge Essential

In depth understanding of the practices and principles of public health and oral health improvement Knowledge of Delivering Better Oral Health, The Toolkit, 3nd edition, to enable giving advice and application of evidence informed actions as part of consistent messages provided by the dental team Understanding of dental legislation and its application Thorough understanding of the importance of meeting CQC outcomes
