Job SummaryThis SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST position, is located in the Army National Guard (ARNG) Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ)/State, Territory, and District of Columbia Safety and Occupational Health Office and is part of the CA JFHQ Safety.
QualificationsSAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST, GS-0018-11: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-09 level, in: performing periodic/unscheduled inspections of base facilities, warehouses, and equipment maintenance operations and evaluated compliance with applicable regulations and hazard system; experience recommending measures and methods to correct safety and occupational health deficiencies; experience participating in planning for testing of munitions, and assuring integration of explosive safety criteria in testing procedures; experience reviewing test implementation directives for inclusion of appropriate safety criteria; experience preparing supplements to regulations and manuals for aircraft weapons safety and developed local regulations defining applicable mishap prevention procedures. Major DutiesTHIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST, GS-0018-11, is to serve as the State, Territory, District of Columbia Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the maintenance or a comprehensive ground and explosives, safety program for the State. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.RequirementsCALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. (Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the Army CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment). Military Grades: E-5 through E-9, WO-2 through WO-4, or O-2 through O-5 Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive IS NOT authorized. PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. May be required to successfully complete a one or two year trial period. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
