QualificationsApplicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements: 1. Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. (SCREENOUT) 2. Knowledge of Equipment Assembly Installation, Repair, etc. 3. Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) 4. Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading) 5. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. 6. Knowledge of Materials. 7. Trouble Shooting National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Major DutiesYou will serve as a Shop Planner and be responsible for and be responsible for assisting the Mechanical Group Superintendent and the Outside Machine Shop General Foreman, by ordering and expediting the delivery of production shop materials used in the Inside Machine Shop, Outside Machine Shop. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Reviews BM to determine material designated for his shop, verifies listed stock numbers, and determines unit of issue of each item. Issues BM Revision forms (2298) to delete, add, or change any items on BM that are not needed or unsuitable for the project. Recommends substitute items and forwards to IndustriaI Department for approval. Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.RequirementsAll qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
