Job SummaryThis position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, YARD, Industrial Department, Services Group in Baltimore, MD. This is a temporary appointment not to exceed 1 year, can be extended up to 5 years total an or can be converted to permanent without further consideration.
QualificationsApplicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Major DutiesYou will be responsible for supervising a group of employees that are part of the Paint & Blast staff who performs all kinds of trade job tasks that involves the corrosion maintenance, which involves blasting & painting operations during overhauls and conversions to a wide variety of types and sizes of marine craft and vessels. Being a civilian working for the Coast Guard makes you a valuable team member. Typical duties include: Developing plans, specifications, schedules thoroughly with job assignments and recommends any changes that will result in a more effective & efficient work progress. Submitting reports with recommended repairs, modifications or changes. Recognizing equipment and material deficiencies to insure that all the required equipment, tools and supplies are available to all employees to complete the job assignments here at the Yard and throughout the country who provide technical advice or correct fleet problems when requested. Responds to units requests for technical guidance on a continuing basis. Providing training when needed for up-grades; Certifications needed for all employees. Inspecting all job assignments upon completion, correct any discrepancies if needed. Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.RequirementsAll qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
