This is an excellent opportunity to begin a long-term career with KiwiRail. You'll receive structured training and on-the-job coaching while learning to maintain, test, inspect, and repair the signalling systems that help keep New Zealand's rail network operating safely and efficiently. Key responsibilities include: Assisting with the maintenance, testing, inspection, and repair of signalling equipment and level crossing systems Learning to identify faults and use testing equipment on signalling assets Reading and interpreting technical drawings and diagrams Supporting the installation and adjustment of signalling equipment and track circuits Completing technical documentation and maintaining accurate records Participating in formal training programmes and on-the-job development activities Promoting KiwiRail's Zero Harm safety culture in everything you do Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring: We're looking for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and is motivated to learn a specialised trade. You will bring: Experience working effectively as part of a team Experience in labouring, construction, electrical, mechanical, or other hands-on environments A positive attitude and willingness to learn Good communication and problem-solving skills A strong commitment to safety and quality Essential requirements: NCEA Level 1 (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and Science Full New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence Desirable: Current First Aid and CPR Certificates Full Class 2 Driver Licence Previous rail industry experience New Zealand Electrical Registration Nōu te rourou | What’s in it for you: At KiwiRail, you gain more than a job you build a career.
