Job Summary The Patient Care Assistant (PCA), provides direct patient support and assistance with activities of daily living, patient comfort, and safety under the supervision and direction of the Registered Nurse, including identifying patient needs, assisting with personal care and mobility, and preparing patients and environments for procedures. This role maintains infection control standards and ensures environmental cleanliness while promptly communicating all patient observations, complaints, and concerns to the registered nurse. Job Responsibilities 1 Identifies physical, emotional, and social needs of patients and reports findings to the registered nurse. Participates in the implementation of patient care and contributes to the plan strictly only under the ongoing supervision and specific direction of the registered nurse. Presents for the safety and comfort of patients, families, and significant others. Reduces the risk of health care acquired infection by complying with current standard precaution guidelines and isolation policy. Promptly communicates patient’s needs to nurses and doctors. Provides assistance in preparing patients for procedures as directed by the registered nurse or physician and prepares patient rooms and stretchers as necessary and required. Provides effective motivation of patients to participate in activities and adequate observations to assure safety as directed by the Registered Nurse. Job Responsibilities 2 Takes responsibility for promptly reporting problems and/or patient complaints to the Registered Nurse. Provides patient safety and comfort by utilizing resources and materials to safely transport patients using age-appropriate methods and equipment, as directed by the Registered Nurse. Responds to patients’ requests, and report observations of the patient to the Registered Nurse. Ensures environmental cleanliness in patient rooms and patient care areas. Accompanies patients for any tests/procedures if necessary and as directed by the Registered Nurse. Assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) if required and as directed by the Registered Nurse. Assists patient mobilization and out of stretcher activities if required and as directed by the Registered Nurse. Participates in all initiatives that assist in reducing the risk of patient harm by following safety precautions. Additional Responsibilities 3 Job Knowledge & Skills Understanding of infection control and safety procedures Basic Knowledge in maintaining patient hygiene and grooming techniques Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with existing regulations Basic computer skills and ability to learn EHR systems Job Experience Minimum 6 months of patient care experience in a hospital, long-term care, or clinical setting English – Fluent (Required) | Arabic – Fluent (Preferred).
