At factorymaker, we are building AI-powered software that helps industrial companies design, optimize, and simulate factories, production lines, and infrastructure. Our platform combines AI, optimization algorithms, and engineering to solve some of the most complex planning challenges in manufacturing. We are looking for an experienced Backend Software Engineer to help build the core of our platform and shape the future of industrial AI. 1 Senior Backend Software Engineer (m/f/x) What you will work on * Support and further develop our existing backend infrastructure built with NestJS and TypeScript * Build and maintain REST APIs and WebSocket-based communication services * Design robust data models and translate business requirements into scalable database structures and relationships * Work with MongoDB and PostgreSQL * Take ownership of deployment and DevOps, ensuring our systems are reliable, secure, and scalable * Work with our Azure cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines * Participate in code reviews, drive engineering best practices, and contribute to architectural decisions * Collaborate closely with our frontend, AI, product, and Quality Assurance teams to deliver reliable, high-quality software What we are looking for * Professional backend software engineering experience (4+ years) * Strong experience with NestJS, TypeScript, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL * Solid understanding of backend architecture, API design, and database modeling * Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines * Experience documenting and testing APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger and Postman * Experience with Microsoft Azure is a strong plus * Passion for writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code * Fluent English Why join factorymaker * Build cutting-edge AI software for leading industrial companies * Work directly with the founders and have real technical ownership * Shape the architecture of a fast-growing deep-tech startup * Enterprise-scale challenges with modern technologies * International team across Austria and Portugal * Flexible working hours and remote-friendly culture * Regular team retreats, workshops, and offsites The minimum gross monthly salary for this position is EUR 4,611 (14 salaries per year), in accordance with the Austrian Collective Agreement for Employees of Companies in the Field of Services in Automatic Data Processing and Information Technology (ST2 - Entry Level).
