LabCorp is seeking a Histology Technician to join our team in Portland, OR
Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 3AM to 11:30AM
Job Responsibilities:
Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic examinationPerform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides from surgical specimensEmbed, orient, and section tissue using a microtome, ensuring proper slide preparationPerform routine histology procedures, including H&E and special staining techniquesConduct immunohistochemical (IHC) testing on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sectionsPrepare stains, reagents, and solutions required for laboratory proceduresOperate, maintain, and troubleshoot manual and automated laboratory instrumentationReport accurate and timely test results to support quality patient carePerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control proceduresMaintain accurate equipment logs and documentationFollow laboratory SOPs for specimen handling, processing, analysis, and reportingIdentify, document, and resolve issues that may affect test performanceMaintain a safe work environment and adhere to all laboratory safety protocols Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is requiredAbility to meet CLIA requirements Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degreeASCP Histology certification (HT or HTL)1 year or more of experience with routine histology procedures and equipment1 year or more of experience with immunohistochemistry (IHC) Additional Job Standards:
Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvementAbility to embed and section both small and large specimensStrong attention to detail and ability to accurately read and verify labelsAbility to work independently and within a team environmentExperience working in a high-volume laboratory settingFamiliarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocolsStrong organizational and multitasking skillsExcellent attention to detail and accuracyEffective written and verbal communication skillsAble to pass a standardized color blindness test Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
