RQ00707 - Systems Testing/QA Specialist - Senior Hybrid - 1 Day a week in Office (525 University Avenue) 11+ months Contract (250 Business Days) Must Haves: • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience. • 5 ? 7 years of experience in the information technology field particularly in web-based applications and QA automation/performance testing, with 3+ years in a senior or lead capacity. • Expert-level proficiency with JMeter, including custom plugins, BeanShell/Groovy scripting, and distributed testing. • Strong experience using APM platforms (Grafana, Dynatrace, New Relic, or similar) to diagnose root causes. • Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure), microservices, caching layers (Redis/Memcached), and load balancers. • Advanced knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and the ability to analyze slow-running queries under load. • Ability to read and understand backend code (e.g., Java, Python, Go, or .NET) to assist in debugging. • Strong experience in working independently on reading, modifying existing scripts/programs for which documentation may not be available. • Experience designing, building and maintaining automation test frameworks/scripts for UI, non UI and web services. • Experience in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle and related methodologies including but not limited to Agile, Iterative. Nice to Have: • Public Sector Experience: Preferred Responsibilities: • Framework Design: Architect and scale modular, reusable JMeter test frameworks for complex workflows. • Test Architecture: Design advanced load, stress, endurance, and failover scenarios mimicking peak production traffic. • Deep Analysis: Pinpoint complex system bottlenecks, memory leaks, and thread contentions across distributed architectures. • Optimization Strategy: Partner with senior developers and DevOps to recommend infrastructure scaling and code-level tuning. • CI/CD Automation: Embed non-functional testing gates into CI/CD pipelines for automated, continuous performance validation. • Mentorship & Leadership: Establish performance testing best practices and mentor junior or mid-level QA engineers. • Plan and organize testing efforts for large systems in Graphical User Interface (GUI) and non-Graphical User Interface (GUI) environments, including the execution of systems integration tests, specialized tests, and user acceptance testing (e.g., stress tests) • Develop test plans, test scripts and test cases and execute these against the various components. Work with the testing lead and IT lead of each project as well as the project team members in the analysis, design, development, implementation and ongoing support of the required systems • If required, manual testing and debugging by writing complex SQL queries and ETL validation to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data transformations and extractions. This includes performing Quality Assurance services and executing functional, integration, interface, performance and regression testing, preparing estimates and participating in planning and preparation services along with other testing artifacts in alignment with best practices and OH Quality Assurance standards. Desired Skills: • Executing the ETL Datastage jobs using UNIX shell scripts will be an asset • Technical proficiency in Siebel/CRM is an asset. • Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux operations (connectivity, navigation, executing basic commands)
