Our company's success is driven by our dynamic, highly skilled, and innovative management team, supported by dedicated employees who live in coastalcommunitiesand contribute to the local area ' s economy and sense of community.The RoleReporting to the Harvest Manager, the Wharf Crew Lead Hand is responsible for leading and participating in all aspects of the fish offloading operation. This role requires the safe operation and supervision of harvest vessel equipment, a strong understanding of proper fish handling practices, and a commitment to maintaining product quality throughout the offloading process.The successful candidate will oversee the efficient transfer of fish from harvest vessels to tanker trucks while ensuring company standards for safety, quality, and operational excellence are met.This is a hands-on leadership role that involves supervising crew members, coordinating daily offloading activities, and assisting with equipment maintenance and upkeep.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and participate in all aspects of fish offloading operationsOperate and supervise the use of harvest vessel and wharf equipmentEnsure proper fish handling procedures are followed to maintain product qualityCoordinate and support the safe and efficient offloading of fish to tanker trucksSupervise and assist with routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, and cleaning of harvest equipmentPromote and maintain a safe work environmentProvide direction, support, and leadership to wharf crew membersEnsure operational and quality standards are consistently metQualificationsPrevious supervisory or team leadership experience is preferredWharf crew experience would be considered an assetBasic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are considered an assetMust hold, or be willing to obtain, Confined Space Training upon hireMust hold, or be willing to obtain, Forklift CertificationMust be willing to work flexible hours, including schedules that vary based on vessel arrivalsStrong communication, organizational, and leadership skillsCommitment to workplace safety and quality standardsWorking ConditionsHands-on outdoor work environmentWeek on/week off scheduleWork hours may vary depending on operational requirements and Harvest Vessel schedulesCooke offers full-time year round employment, competitive rates and a competitive benefits package which includes health and dental as well as a company matched pension.Benefits PackageHealth Benefits: Includes coverage for dental, vision, and extended medical care.Insurance: Life and disability insurance provided for financial security.Support Services: Access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).Financial Planning: Opportunity for RRSP matching to support your retirement savings.Wellness: Wellness programs.Career Development: Professional growth opportunities and avenues for advancement.Perks: Employee discounts on company products or services. *As per company policy, a criminal background check is required.
