Position Overview:
We are seeking a sophisticated Financial Manager (NOC 10010) to oversee our financial operations. This role is not just about bookkeeping; it requires a strategic leader who can integrate advanced data analytics and rigorous internal controls into a manufacturing environment. You will report directly to the ownership group, providing the financial architecture necessary to scale our production and market reach.
Key Responsibilities
* Financial Strategy & Departmental Leadership: Direct and control the daily operations of the finance department. Develop and implement the factory's financial policies, systems, and procedures to ensure operational efficiency. * Budgeting & Financial Planning: Coordinate the preparation of the annual budget and regional financial forecasts. Monitor production costs, labor variances, and material expenditures against strategic objectives. * Advanced Reporting & Analytics: Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and management reports. Utilize computational tools to analyze complex data sets regarding manufacturing throughput and profitability. * Risk Management & Internal Audit: Establish and maintain internal control systems to protect company assets. Act as the primary liaison for external auditors and ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards. * Liquidity & Capital Management: Manage the company's cash flow positions and investment portfolios. Evaluate capital expenditure requests for new embroidery and screen-printing technology. * Executive Advisory: Advise senior management on financial aspects of production expansion, potential mergers, or acquisitions within the apparel industry. * Staff Oversight: Recruit, organize, and mentor financial and accounting staff, fostering a culture of technical precision and analytical excellence.
Work Conditions:
* Work on-site at our Burnaby office * 2 weeks of paid vacation per year, after the completion of the first year of employment * Occasional overtime or weekend hours may be requested, up to maximum 10 hours per week * Take on responsibilities beyond the job description as necessary * Enforced office hours 8:00 AM ? 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Qualifications & Requirements
* Education: A Master?s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field is required. A dual background in Computer Science or Mathematics is highly preferred to support our transition to data-driven financial modeling. * Professional Designation: Completion of/or progress toward a designation is considered an asset. * Experience: A minimum of 5?7 years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles, such as Financial Controller.
Technical Skills:
* Proficiency in ERP system integration and database management. * Ability to use programming languages for financial automation and predictive simulation. * Expertise in Cost Accounting and inventory-heavy business models.
