Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Building construction materials. Stone processing plant and foundry. Machine set-up. Tasks: Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Repair machine tools and parts. Set up and adjust production machineries/tools. Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance. Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances. Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Operate machines to grind and polish surfaces of stone blocks, slabs or other stone products to specific shape or design and to produce a smooth finish. Cut, surface, polish and install marble and granite. Supervision: Machinists and machining and tooling inspectors. Measuring tools: Micrometers. Callipers. Gauges. Specialized machining processes: Water jet. Equipment and machinery experience: Milling machines. Sawing machine. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Computer-aided design (CAD). Equipment, eystems and controls experience: NC and CNC systems. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently. Attention to detail. Personal suitability: Accurate.
