About this role

Job summary

We are looking for a Podiatrists to join our growing dynamic team at Guys & St.Thomas' Hospital. This post is hospital based within the central London in the Boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark, in this post there will be an opportunity to support our community colleagues in treating high risk patients in the community.The post will involve wound care management. The suitable candidate should be self-motivated and have a broad range of post-graduate clinical experience and will be working alongside a multidisciplinary team.Patient care takes place in both out and in-patient setting. You may also be required to occasionally cover our satellite clinic. You will be working within a team and must have good communication skills.There will be supervision and mentoring from colleagues for continual CPD. In addition regular team meeting updates on Department and Trust positions.

Main duties of the job

To work within an in-and out-patient settling To triage referral and work within in the NICE guidelines. To assess and treat the high risk case load with advanced wound management methods and work within a multidisciplinary team Candidate must be highly motivated and should be able to cope with clinical emergencies win a pressurised environment. To be able to total contact cast, apply Negative pressure devices, apply larvae and other complex advanced techniques To build a working network with all community services to benefit patients. Maintain the education element and referral pathways for GPs, District Nurses, Urgent Care team Teaching and managing junior staff Audit /Data collection and reporting

Podiatry servicesspreads across the Guys and St. Thomas' hospital sites, Queen Mary's Hospital (Sidcup) and Lambeth and community.

The acute team comprises of 12 podiatrist, 1 nurse and 2 clinical assistants plus a much larger team within the Lambeth and Southwark community services.

The service will work across borders within South East London in a collaborative approach to reduce the variation in outcomes, allowing the prompt repatriation of patients and the provision of specialist care closer to home. Initially the service will operate 5 days a week, but in time will move to working 6 days a week.

Person Specification

Qualification & Knowledge Essential

Diploma/Degree in Podiatry Evidence of significant practical experience with complex patients Master's Degree level or equivalent HPC registration LA administration

Desirable

Post graduate training within a specialist clinical caseload Acute Trust experience Independent prescriber - see Appendix 1

Experience Essential

Advance specialised knowledge in relation to the high risk patient Experience of working in a very busy clinic Handling stressful situations

Foot MDT experience
