Job summary

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the General Surgery and Urology Directorate at Wexham Park Hospital as a Clinical Administration Apprentice. This apprenticeship is ideal for those looking to develop valuable workplace skills while working towards a Level 3 Business Administrator qualification.

This role provides an excellent entry point into the NHS and is perfect for individuals seeking to gain practical experience within a healthcare environment. As a Clinical Administration Apprentice, you will work closely with our experienced administrative teams, providing essential support to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our services.

You will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of administrative functions across the directorate, helping you develop a broad understanding of the processes that support high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include liaising with clinicians and patients, managing administrative tasks, and supporting effective communication between departments. Through this hands-on experience, you will build the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to succeed in a healthcare administration career.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will provide administrative support to the department, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and within agreed timescales. They will manage and prioritise their workload, maintain confidentiality, and respond professionally to enquiries from patients, GPs, clinicians and colleagues.

Key responsibilities include preparing correspondence on behalf of Consultants, processing incoming mail, scanning and uploading documents to the Trust's Electronic Patient Record system, maintaining accurate filing systems, and supporting clinicians with patient communications through Epic. The role involves using a range of IT systems and ensuring information is stored securely in line with Trust policies.

The postholder will work closely with colleagues across the department and wider Trust to support an efficient, high-quality service and provide cover for team members when required. The apprenticeship also offers opportunities to shadow different roles, gain valuable healthcare administration experience, and develop skills for a future NHS career.
