About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Ward Clerk to join the Neonatal Team at Wirral Women and Children's Hospital.

The Ward Clerk will work as part of a small team providing admin and clerical support for our Neonatal Unit.

The successful candidate will work closely with nurses/midwives and multidisciplinary team that work across the neonatal unit each shift, working closely to provide safe, high quality care.

This will be 26 hours over 3 days working Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Main duties of the job

Main duties include booking appointments, rescheduling appointments, answering telephone queries and acting upon query accordingly. Using Cerner Millennium to admit, transfer and discharge patients. Liaising with other departments for bookings. Reception duties are also a part of this role along with supporting Maternity Patients and visitors when they arrive and during their stay.

Wirral Women and Children's Hospital provides care for approximately 3,300 low and high-risk women per year, encompassed within the unit is a Level 3 Unit for Neonatal Services, Children's Services and Women's Unit.We have a reputation for innovation in providing high-quality care to low and high-risk women in a hospital/community setting.

Person Specification

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training Essential

NVQ 2 in a relevant subject or equivalent experience of working in an administrative role. Educated to GCSE or equivalent

Desirable

Previous experience in an NHS acute hospital Previous experience of the Cerner Millennium information system ECDL

Knowledge and Skills Essential

Basic working knowledge of IT. Good keyboard and computer skills. Good verbal and written communication skills Good time management and organisational skills Awareness of health and safety standards including COSHH guidelines

Desirable

Knowledge of NHS admin process Awareness of information governance Ability to prioritise work to deadlines and use own initiative Excellent customer service skills Knowledge and confidentiality and Caldicott Guidelines
