Position Summary
The Training and Development Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation and facilitation of a formal training program for the organization, while utilizing and maintaining our learning management system (LMS.)
Responsibilities
Primary Position Responsibilities
• Administers the in-house, CoServ University, training program by analyzing needs and formulating programs and schedules based on knowledge of identified needs, changes to business systems, services, or procedures.
• Conducts Smith System Driving training as part of the driver improvement plan.
• Conducts CPR and First Aid training sessions.
• Works closely with leadership to align training goals with overall company and departmental objectives.
• Develops and delivers in-person and virtual training as needed and moderates sessions to ensure engagement.
• Coordinates securing outside training resources such as consultants, educational institution personnel, and business and industry representatives.
• Coordinates with legal in reviewing the required training contracts.
• Researches, writes and develops new and/or revised curriculum such as training handbooks, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works.
• Maintains learning management system (LMS), including managing user accounts, uploading training materials, and monitoring training completion and compliance.
• Responsible for creating and executing learning strategies and programs while maintaining Employee training records and providing training reports as requested through the learning management system (LMS).
• Works with various departments throughout the organization to ensure accurate documentation and tracking of training. Including: Safety, EDP/Operations, IT/InfoSec, etc.
• Develops metrics to effectively monitor the impact of training programs.
• Continually collects and analyzes feedback from participants on the effectiveness of training programs.
• Supports the continuous improvement of training processes, suggesting enhancements, and identifying opportunities for streamlining and automation.
• Responsible for working with the Employee Communications Specialist and the Safety & Training Department to update the monthly safety topic training presentation, post on the LMS and assign to all Employees.
• Stays updated on training best practices and industry trends, incorporating them into the coordination and delivery of training activities.
• Responsible for preparing and maintaining the training program budget.
• Complies with established CoServ safety and operating rules, procedures and guidelines including reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor.
• Complies with established CoServ Information Security Handbook, policies, procedures, and guidelines including reporting suspected information security incidents to Tech Support.
Secondary Position Responsibilities
• Creates and submits training invoices quarterly or as necessary.
• Plans, organizes, and coordinates Employee morale events.
• Assists with internal communications, as needed.
• Performs other duties and activities as directed.
Position Requirements
Education, Experience, and Certifications Required
• High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalency.
• Three (3) years of leadership training experience or six (6) years of experience as a leader in an organization.
• Working knowledge of a learning management system (LMS).
Education, Experience, and Certifications Preferred
• College degree in a business field.
• PHR or SHRM-CP
• Five (5) years of experience in adult learning facilitation.
• Experience in creating graphics.
• Experience with Adobe creative suite.
• Working knowledge of Schoox and/or UKG Pro Learning.
Skills and Abilities Required
• Excellent human relations and communications skills, both written and verbal.
• Must be comfortable in preparing and delivering presentations to all levels within the organization, including formal professional development and teaching assignments.
• Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
• Demonstrates competencies of leadership skills - planning, coordinating, directing, listening and communication.
• Ability to work under strict deadlines and has the capability to utilize problem- solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Must have strong grammar skills.
• Must understand the confidentiality required for this position.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Must possess personal computer skills and be proficient in Office 365 products including, but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work as a team player.
• Ability to work flexible and extended hours as needed or directed.
Skills and Abilities Preferred
• Knowledge of the cooperative business model.
• Knowledge of instructional design.
Physical Requirements
• Operates office equipment such as a computer, telephone, copier, etc.
• Indoor, office environment.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
• Ability to drive occasionally as needed.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Other Requirements
• Travels to conferences and other office sites.
• Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
