Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and professional appearance of Wachtel Tree Science's facilities and grounds. This position performs general building maintenance, lawn and landscape care, minor repairs, seasonal property maintenance, office cleaning, and a variety of support tasks that contribute to an efficient workplace. The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, mechanically inclined, and enjoys a wide variety of hands-on work.
Position Details
Reports to: Operations Manager
Hours: Flexible. Approximately 10-15 hours per week
Status: Part time, hourly, non-exempt
Location: Primary work location is within Merton & Sussex, WI. Potential special projects at satellite locations in Franksville (Racine Co.) and Mequon (Ozaukee Co.).
Essential Functions:
Facility Maintenance
• Perform routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and grounds to identify maintenance needs.
• Complete minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, and repair projects within skill level.
• Assemble, install, repair, and maintain office furniture, shelving, fixtures, and equipment.
• Replace light bulbs, filters, batteries, and other routine maintenance items.
• Maintain organized maintenance records and communicate larger repair needs to management.
Grounds & Property Care
• Mow, trim, edge, and maintain lawns and landscaped areas.
• Weed, mulch, and maintain landscape beds.
• Water landscaping as needed.
• Pick up litter and maintain a clean, professional exterior appearance.
• Assist with snow removal, ice control, and seasonal property maintenance.
• Maintain parking lots, sidewalks, signage, fencing, outdoor furniture and building exteriors.
• Notify Operations Manager of any area needing attention requiring service by an outside vendor (i.e. overflowing dumpster, service of portable toilet).
Office & Facility Cleaning
• Perform routine cleaning of office and production buildings.
• Clean and sanitize restroom.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and empty trash and recycling.
• Restock paper products, soaps, cleaning supplies, coffee supplies, and other consumables.
• Assist with periodic deep cleaning projects.
Equipment & Inventory
• Monitor inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies.
• Recommend purchases for tools, equipment, and facility improvements.
• Safely operate lawn equipment, power tools, ladders, and other maintenance equipment.
General Support
• Assist departments with office moves, furniture setup, and special projects.
• Receive and distribute deliveries as needed.
• Support company improvement projects and facility upgrades.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Ability to safely operate lawn care equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
• Valid driver's license, approved by company insurance provider.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Walk, stand, bend, kneel, squat, climb ladders, and work on uneven surfaces.
• Work indoors and outdoors year-round.
• Safely use hand tools, power tools, and lawn equipment.
• Work around dust, noise, cleaning chemicals, and varying weather conditions.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience performing general building or facility maintenance.
• Experience in facility maintenance, property maintenance, landscaping, or custodial work.
• Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
• Experience operating snow removal equipment.
$20 / hour
