About this role
About inGain
inGain is a Latvian B2B fintech startup delivering an end-to-end, no-code SaaS platform for launching and running lending operations from digital application flows and underwriting to servicing and debt collection. Established and based in Riga, we have steadily scaled since our foundation in 2022, now comprising a team of over 30 talents serving clients across 11 markets in Europe, Africa and Middle East.
Our Tech Stack:
• Backend: PHP 8.3 with custom modular framework that extensively leverages Symfony and Illuminate components to support complex, large-scale SaaS workflows;
• Frontend: Laravel Blade, focused on clarity, performance, and maintainability;
• Databases: MySQL 8 as our primary relational datastore;
• Testing: Backend tests running with PHPUnit 12 (Feature, integration, unit tests) and Postman for API testing;
• Caching & Performance: Redis for caching and fast data access;
• Observability & Monitoring: Sentry for error tracking, Grafana and Prometheus for metrics and system visibility
• Infrastructure & Local Development: Docker-based development environments for consistency and ease of setup
• Version Control: Self-hosted GitLab with full CI/CD pipelines;
• Project Management: We use Jira for managing tickets and Confluence for storing up-to-date information;
• Collaboration: Slack for day-to-day communication and coordination;
• Engineering Process: A well-defined SDLC with code reviews, manual/automated testing, and controlled releases.
In this role you will:
• Perform both manual and automated testing.
• Participate in improving and defining the organization-wide manual and automated testing strategy while actively writing and executing tests.
• Guide the junior QA, handle workload planning, and align QA metrics with business KPIs.
• Collaborate with the CTO to review system design, evaluate architectural risks, and ensure testability is built-in.
• Manage test data frameworks, validate large-scale data migrations, and ensure high database performance.
• Create highly detailed bug reports, documentation, and dashboards that give the development team immediate clarity on how to resolve issues.
You are going to be a great fit if you:
• Have 4+ years of experience in both manual and test automation engineering.
• Are fully self-sufficient, when you receive a ticket/task, you see the bigger picture, know exactly what actions to take, and can independently solve complex issues.
• Possess an advanced understanding of database structures, optimization principles, indexes, and feel confident querying multiple tables with complex subqueries.
• Have a global view of software architecture, understanding exactly how different services, functions, and modules interact and depend on each other.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills, with the ability to argue your technical points logically and give constructive feedback to team members.
• Are fluent in English to seamlessly communicate with colleagues and clients.
You will get plus points if you have:
• Experience working with lending (or other fintech) products.
• Previous experience supervising and guiding junior colleagues.
• Knowledge of CI/CD integration for automated test suites and experience with large data warehousing validation.
• Experience in designing reusable test libraries from scratch that optimize test execution times.
In your first months, you will:
• Month 1: Start getting onboarded into our system architecture, start learning our product and industry standards, get to know your colleagues (QA and Developers), and take ownership of your first incoming tickets.
• Month 2: Dive deeper into our databases and core application logic. You will handle complex manual testing tasks independently, begin guiding the junior QA on daily workloads, and help identify areas where system testability can be improved.
• Month 3: Become a core, self-sufficient member of the team. You will actively assist in mapping out our upcoming automation strategy, help validate large-scale data migrations, and build detailed bug-tracking dashboards to give the development team immediate clarity.
Our offer to you:
• Compensation: A gross monthly salary of €3000-€3500 based on your experience
• Share Options: Earn share options, giving you a stake in our success.
• Health insurance (and critical illness insurance) policies after probation period.
