About this role
In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Electrician
An Site service Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in industrial settings such as factories, plants, and production facilities. The role focuses on ensuring machinery and systems operate safely and efficiently.
A Mine Site Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment used in mining operations. This includes working on heavy machinery, power distribution systems, and ensuring all electrical work is carried out safely in a high-risk environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in mining facilities and equipment
• Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in mining equipment’s and electrical systems
• Maintain and repair power distribution systems, switchgear, and transformers
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to reduce downtime
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical drawings
• Install and maintain lighting, communication, and control systems on site
• Ensure compliance with mine safety regulations and electrical standards
• Respond to breakdowns and perform emergency repairs in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports
• Work closely with mechanical teams, operators, and supervisors
• Able to assist other trades and disciplines when electrical workload is low
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
• Strong knowledge of industrial and mining electrical systems
• Fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
• Knowledge of high-voltage and low-voltage systems
• Familiarity with PLCs and automated systems (advantage)
• Strong safety awareness and risk assessment skills
Ability to work under pressure in remote environments
• Over 5+ years of experience in construction and maintenance work
• Worked in both residential and industrial environments
• Skilled in installations, repairs, and troubleshooting
• Worked on-site under strict safety regulations and deadlines
• Mustimeters, insulation testers, and voltage detectors
• Cable testing and fault-finding equipment
• Support shutdowns and major maintenance projects
• Assist other departments when required
