In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Auto Electrician
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Auto Electrician to join our mobile maintenance team at our mine site. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the electrical systems of heavy mobile equipment, light vehicles, and ancillary equipment to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose and repair faults in electrical systems of heavy mobile equipment (e.g., CAT, Komatsu).
• Perform maintenance on lighting systems, wiring, alternators, starters, batteries, and air conditioning systems.
• Install and maintain mine-specific safety systems such as two-way radios, proximity detection systems, and vehicle monitoring systems.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled servicing to minimize breakdowns.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, manuals, and technical drawings.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and complies with site procedures, standards, and statutory regulations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report defects in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with mechanical fitters, plant operators, and other tradespeople.
• Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings as required.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
• Technical certificate in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in mining or industrial operations.
Additional
• Exposure to open-pit mining environments is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with diagnostic software and modern fleet management systems.
• Ability to work autonomously and within a team in remote or challenging conditions.
Working Conditions
• Position based at the OKO Project site.
• Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days Off
• Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site.
Compensation Package
• 1-year contract for the construction period, with the possibility of a permanent position once the mine is in operation.
