About us

Africa Practice Group is a mission-led, innovation and advocacy practice advising investors and development partners across the continent. Our mission is to shape a prosperous Africa that inspires the world. For over 20 years, we have been partnering with global investors, policy-makers, development partners and other changemakers to drive transformation on the continent. In December 2025, Africa Practice acquired Brink.

Our insights and advocacy solutions are rooted in detailed systems and stakeholder understanding. We identify, generate, and analyse human-centred systems data to design impactful advocacy interventions. We deliver our world-class insights and advocacy solutions through our local presence.

We operate as one company, with a diverse team working on a hybrid basis in Abuja, Barcelona, Cape Town, Dakar, Dar es Salaam, Gaborone, Johannesburg, Kigali, Lagos, Manila, Montreal, Nairobi, London and Washington DC. We are risk analysts, behavioural scientists, development economists, advocates, storytellers, data scientists, policy experts, systems thinkers and creative minds. We have been a signatory to the UN Global Compact since 2021 and achieved BCorp certification in 2024.

About the role

We are seeking a full time, bilingual (French and English) Senior Consultant to drive the delivery of our strategic communications mandates with clients investing and operating across Africa in the banking, infrastructure, development finance, energy transition and mining sectors.

This will be a stimulating and rewarding role for someone who is seeking to work with prestigious clients, enjoys immersion in interesting, varied and purposeful work and will thrive in an extremely dynamic, fast-paced and multicultural working environment.

Responsibilities:

• Conceptualise and deliver creative, human-centred, evidence-driven campaigns designed to raise awareness, shift mindsets, challenge entrenched narratives, advance public policy goals and motivate behaviour change

• Develop nuanced insights into the strategic issues shaping our clients’ industries and influencing their organisational goals, interpret what will be relevant and valuable to them and advise effectively

• Design compelling narratives and key messaging that motivate action; formulate and defend key positions

• Develop insightful, creative and evidence-driven leadership positioning and corporate communications strategies and plans

• Play an important role in client relationship management and ensure high quality execution of agreed communications plans and advocacy campaigns on schedule and within budget, using our project management and productivity tools and systems

• Leverage strong relationships with top tier international, regional and trade journalists to source media intelligence and craft persuasive pitches that result in stand out media reporting

• Deliver succinct and insightful advisory based on AI-powered media monitoring and listening, conduct nuanced and instructive peer benchmarking and reputational risk assessments

• Make strategic recommendations based on your understanding of the stakeholder landscape and the way communities of interest are mobilised and engaged across different platforms to inform the design of imaginative and effective engagement campaigns

• Conceptualise and produce high quality thought leadership content across a range of formats (including but not limited to advisory notes, presentations, opinion pieces, talking points for speeches and podcasts, scripting and storyboarding videos and animations, conceptualising data visualisation)

• Proactively share insights into current affairs, new media and technologies and creative approaches and contribute to the development of IP so we’re constantly raising the bar for performance

Personal growth

• Demonstrate courage - challenge yourself by offering out-of-the box solutions to clients, which might go against your and their preconceptions. Be prepared to experiment and iterate; do not rely on what you’ve already done!

• Demonstrate curiosity, not only in terms of project-related themes and issues, but also vis-a-vis new technology and consulting methodologies

• Proactively take advantage of learning opportunities within and beyond Africa Practice

What we are looking for

• Strong organisational, project management and prioritisation skills to ensure deadlines are met across multiple projects

• Outstanding verbal, written and visual storytelling and presentation skills in French and English

• Strong, highly collaborative relationship management skills with clients and colleagues to maintain effective communications across teams and deliver high quality work under time pressure

• Demonstrable strong relationships with international and African top tier business and development focused journalists and a track record of successful pitching to tier 1 international media

• Deep understanding of the development finance, private capital and infrastructure sectors and ability to produce well-informed, authoritative content

• Aptitude for problem-solving and rigorous attention to detail

• Comfortable working with digital platforms for content management, publishing, and monitoring, e.g. WordPress, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, Zignal (or equivalent)

• Visual thinker; creative skills in graphics and digital media highly desirable, e.g. Adobe Suite, Flourish, Canva (or equivalent)

• Data literacy; ability to manage, analyse, structure and visualise datasets highly desirable

• Keen interest in African current affairs essential; understanding of the political economy and macroeconomic context shaping the investment climate

• Adapts well to changing demands in a highly dynamic environment

• Proactively looks for opportunities to improve own performance and actively builds the confidence and capabilities of colleagues

• Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant discipline (e.g. social sciences, languages)
