Job summary

Make a difference overnight. We are recruiting Healthcare Assistants to join our Marie Curie Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Assistant with Marie Curies Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service, you'll provide one to one palliative and end of life care for patients, as well as practical and emotional support for their families, usually in the patients home. Working independently and following the established care plan, you'll support personal care and hygiene, monitor symptoms, assist with medications, maintain accurate records, and provide reassurance to patients and those close to them.

Job description Job responsibilities

We are recruiting a Healthcare Assistant to join our Hospice Care at Home (Overnight Service), North Yorkshire

Hours: Part-time up to 18 hours per week (various 9-hour night shifts, 10pm7am)

Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 2 (aligned with AfC) £25,272 + enhancements (pro rata)

Hourly Rate: £18.22 Saturday and weekday and £23.64 for Sunday and Bank Holiday between the hours of 8pm and 6am

Join the Marie Curie Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service supporting people with a life-limiting illness across North Yorkshire, including Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough and surrounding areas. As part of the Planned Service you will visit one patient per evening and provide compassionate, one-to-one care in patients homes, and offer practical and emotional support to families at a time when it matters most.

Within this rewarding role youll be working independently overnight, following each patients established care plan and using your initiative when needed. Duties will include personal care and hygiene support, monitoring symptoms, supporting with medicines in line with the care plan and local guidance, maintaining accurate records, and providing reassurance and emotional support to patients and those close to them. If you have experience in Palliative and end of life care and are confident working in the community or as a lone worker, wed love to hear from you.

UK licensed driver with access to a car (business insurance essential) Relevant community and/or lone-working experience S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification (or equivalent certificate/diploma) Emotional resilience and confidence working independently (with excellent ongoing training and support provided) Recent experience providing care for people with a life-limiting illness or palliative care needs Whats in it for you:

Person Specification

Experience Essential

6 Months care delivery experience (current) in a Health or Social Care Environment.

Desirable

Recent professional experience of providing care and caring for dying patients.

Qualifications Essential

National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in Health and Social Care OR an equivalent alternative Level 2 Qualification i.e. NCFE level 2 Certificate in Healthcare Support Services, BTEC level 2 Health and Social Care. Functional skills at level 2 in numeracy and literacy or equivalent

Desirable

National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care OR an acceptable, alternative Level 3 Qualification Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
