Rockstar is recruiting for a dynamic, high-growth consumer business with a multi-location, brick-and-mortar presence. The company is seeking a strategic financial leader to build and scale its finance function, partnering directly with the CEO and Head of Operations to drive business strategy and execution.
The client is seeking a highly analytical, hands-on Head of Finance / VP of Finance to build and lead the finance function in a high-growth, multi-location consumer business. This role blends accounting rigor, operational finance, and strategic leadership.
This individual will own the integrity of the financials, build scalable systems and processes, and act as a key partner within the leadership team in driving company strategy and execution.
Core Responsibilities1. Financial Integrity & Close (Highest Priority)
Own the monthly close process to ensure books are accurate, complete, and closed on timeManage and optimize the bookkeeping/accounting team (hire, train, restructure as needed)Ensure accurate expense categorization and clean general ledger structureMaintain accurate multi-location (four-wall) P&LsOversee proper revenue recognition across services, packages, promotions, and gift cardsDeliver audit-ready, pristine financials at all timesImplement strong internal controls, approval workflows, and audit processes2. Accounting Operations & Process Infrastructure
Build and scale finance and accounting processes, including:Accounts payable systems (e.g., Bill.com or equivalent)Vendor management and invoice verification workflowsEmployee expense tracking systems (e.g., Ramp or equivalent)Design and implement processes for medical and retail inventory:Purchasing controls and invoice validationInventory tracking and usage accountingShrinkage identification and reportingStandardize financial processes across all locationsEvaluate and implement best-in-class finance tech stack (ERP, AP, expense, inventory systems)3. Cash Flow, Financing & Capital Strategy
Own cash flow forecasting and liquidity managementLead refinancing efforts for existing debt (including SBA loans)Evaluate and secure equipment financing optionsSupport capital allocation decisions across the businessBuild and manage lender, banking, and financing relationships4. Strategic Finance, FP&A & Business Modeling
Own monthly reporting, variance analysis, and performance insights vs. planIdentify risks, opportunities, and key performance driversBuild and maintain the company’s financial model and forecastsLead annual budgeting and planning processMaintain and evolve margin models to guide pricing, promotions, and investment decisionsAnalyze ROI across growth initiatives, new locations, and service linesSupport prioritization of strategic initiativesPartner directly with the CEO and Head of Operations as a core strategic thought partnerDevelop KPI dashboards and reporting frameworks for leadership visibility5. Field Finance & Performance Management (Location, Team & Financial Management)
Build financial transparency and accountability at the location levelDevelop and manage dashboards for location managers and providersPartner with operators to track and improve revenue, labor, and cost performanceHelp set and track individual and team-level financial goalsDrive adoption of performance metrics across the organizationTrain non-financial leaders to understand and act on financial data6. Compensation, Incentives & Equity Programs
Design and implement scalable, transparent compensation structuresTiered incentive plans for providers and managersAlignment with company-level financial goalsEnsure compensation plans are equitable, motivating, and performance-drivenSupport annual goal-setting and performance tracking processesHelp design and model employee equity or profit participation programsContinuously evaluate and refine comp structures based on performance data and retention outcomes7. Strategic & Operational Leadership
Act as a leader for complex, cross-functional, and ambiguous projects as they arise (doesn’t have to be within the finance scope)Drive high-impact initiatives from concept through executionPartner across teams to ensure alignment and deliveryBring a highly operational mindset, with the ability to move from analysis to execution quicklyServe as a “force multiplier” for the leadership team on priority initiatives
QualificationsExperience
10–15 years of total professional experience in finance, accounting, or related fields2–4+ years in investment banking or highly quantitative consulting required5+ years of operating experience in strategic finance / FP&A roles within a high-growth, consumer business with a multi-location brick and mortar component (ideally pre-Series D or equivalent stage)Proven experience working in a scrappy, fast-paced environment with limited layersTechnical & Domain Expertise
Strong financial modeling and analytical skillsDeep understanding of accounting, close processes, and financial controlsExperience with:Multi-location (four-wall) business models and unit economicsPaid marketing finance (CAC, LTV, channel performance, budget setting)Inventory-based businesses (purchasing, usage tracking, shrinkage)Complex revenue recognition (packages, promotions, gift cards)Experience building forecasts across functions, including marketing and operationsLeadership & Execution
Experience building and managing teamsAbility to operate both strategically and tacticallyStrong cross-functional collaboration skillsHigh ownership mindset with ability to independently drive initiativesPreferred (Not Required)
CPA designationExperience in medspaExperience supporting fundraising, investor reporting, or M&A processes
