Location: Belgium (Fully Remote Possible) Contract Type: Freelance or Permanent About the role We are looking for an API Manager Expert to design, implement and manage enterprise API management solutions and support the delivery of secure, scalable and high-performing integration platforms. You will work closely with Solution Architects, Infrastructure Engineers, Developers and business stakeholders to deliver API GateWay solutions, define integration standards and ensure the successful implementation of enterprise API strategies. Key responsibilities: Configure, deploy and develop API GateWay solutions Manage and maintain API management platforms such as Axway, Apigee, WSO2 API Manager or similar Design and implement secure API solutions using OAuth2, OIDC, JWT and Jwk Develop and maintain REST and SOAP-based web services Apply API, SOA and Enterprise Integration principles Support API lifecycle management from design through deployment and production support Collaborate with infrastructure teams on secure deployment pipelines and cloud environments Produce high-quality technical documentation Support testing, validation and troubleshooting activities Participate in Agile delivery teams and contribute to continuous improvement Ensure compliance with API governance, security and development best practices What we are looking for A proactive API integration professional with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills and the ability to design, secure and deliver enterprise-scale API management solutions within modern service-oriented architectures. Higher education degree or equivalent professional experience Professional experience as an API Manager, API Engineer or similar role Experience with API GateWay configuration, deployment and development Experience with Axway or similar API management platforms (Apigee, WSO2 API Manager, Red Hat Fuse) Strong knowledge of REST, SOAP, WSDL and Web Services standards Experience with OpenAPI, Swagger and YAML Strong understanding of API and SOA principles, including MicroServices architectures Experience implementing API security using OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, Jwk and PKI Understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns and event-driven architectures Experience with XML, JSON, XSD, XPath, XQuery and XSLT Knowledge of testing methodologies and API testing tools Experience with GIT source control and secure CI/CD pipelines Experience working with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban Excellent technical documentation and communication skills Experience using Jira and Confluence Languages Professional working proficiency in English (mandatory) or; Professional working proficiency in Dutch and/or French (mandatory) Professional proficiency in English or one of the Belgian national languages (French or Dutch) Technology environment: Axway, Apigee, WSO2 API Manager, Red Hat Fuse, REST, SOAP, WSDL, OpenAPI, Swagger, YAML, OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, Jwk, XML, JSON, XSD, XPath, XQuery, XSLT, GIT, Postman, SoapUI, ReadyAPI, Jenkins, Azure, AWS, GCP, Jira, Confluence, Miro, Mural, ELK Stack, Agile and Scrum.
