Project Overview:
Bechtel has been selected to partner on the design and construction of Poland's first nuclear power plant at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in Pomerania. In partnership with Westinghouse Electric Company and Polish utility Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe, Bechtel will deliver three AP1000 ® reactors for its inaugural nuclear energy program.
Bechtel will perform the Engineering, Procurement and Construction activities to construct 3 AP1000 ® units at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site. Using once-through cooling to and from the Baltic Sea, the design uses a simplified and innovative approach to safety. Bechtel's recent completion of two AP1000's ® at Plant Vogtle has set the stage for the deployment of this proven technology in Europe.

Job Summary:
The Startup and Operations Coordinator will provide planning coordination and execution support for commissioning, startup, and turnover (CSU) activities in accordance with project requirements, procedures, and established NS&E processes. This role supports system completion, turnover, and startup readiness by integrating activities across engineering, procurement, construction, and operations. The position operates within a matrixed, project environment, working collaboratively with Project disciplines functions and leadership across all business lines to promote consistency, standardization, and effective CSU execution.
The Startup Operations Coordinator contributes to the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of startup objectives and supports Business Unit-level CSU performance through coordination, data management, and continuous improvement efforts.
Major Responsibilities:
Reports directly to the Project Startup ManagerSupports development and maintenance of CSU execution plans, systemization, and turnover strategiesCoordinates CSU activities across engineering, procurement, construction, and operations organizationsInterfaces with Project Vendors, Major suppliers and Licensors in planning and execution of the project startup effortAssists in identifying constraints, risks, and interfaces impacting startup executionSupports alignment and standardization of CSU processes, tools, and reporting practices across the Business UnitFacilitates communication of CSU status, risks, and priorities across project teamsAssists in consolidating CSU metrics and performance insights for functional leadershipPromotes sharing of lessons learned and best practices between projectsSupports system and subsystem turnover processes in accordance with project proceduresCoordinates verification of turnover package completeness, including documentation and punch list statusCoordinates CSU work activities and readiness for field executionTracks pre-commissioning and commissioning progress against approved plansSupports identification, escalation, and resolution of issues impacting startupMaintains CSU systems and databases, including system completion and turnover tracking toolsPrepares routine status reports, dashboards, and performance metricsSupports aggregation and reporting of Business Unit-level CSU dataInterfaces with engineering, construction, quality, project controls, and client organizationsCollaborates with Project Startup Managers across projects and business linesSupports CSU meetings, readiness reviews, and coordination sessionsCommunicates CSU status, priorities, and issues to stakeholdersApplies CSU procedures, standards, and best practicesSupports continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned programsIdentifies opportunities to enhance coordination efficiency and execution consistencySupports and promotes a strong safety culture consistent with NS&E principlesAssists in ensuring CSU activities are executed in compliance with ES&H requirements, permits, and proceduresParticipates in readiness reviews to support safe startup execution
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Advanced knowledge of pertinent industry and regulatory standardsNuclear hands-on commissioning and startup experience on multiple projectsHi level of knowledge on testing and commissioning of nuclear projects including Westinghouse API 1000 MachinesDemonstrated experience with initial startup & shutdown trouble shootingExperience with initial equipment and system startupExperience with operation of pneumatic equipment and systems in accordance with design requirements including operation from local control systems/panelsKnowledge and experience in the scopes of work inherent in operations and maintenance projectsDemonstrated ability to motivate and lead team members and direct reports effectively & positively in a collaborative team environmentDemonstrated ability to problem-solve in high pressure situationsExperience as a Shift Supervisor, Senior Supervisor or Commissioning Manager
