About this role
Primary Purpose Direct and manage the district's transportation department to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation services for all eligible students. Provide leadership in planning, organizing, supervising, and evaluating all transportation operations while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Qualifications Education/Certification
• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid Texas driver's license
• Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements preferred or ability to obtain
• School Bus Driver Certification required or ability to obtain
• Completion of required Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) school bus training
Experience
• Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in student transportation
Special Knowledge and Skills
• Knowledge of Texas DPS school bus regulations
• Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations preferred
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance programs preferred
• Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate personnel preferred
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to develop efficient bus routes preferred
• Ability to respond effectively during emergencies
