About this role

Portsmouth School Department is seeking substitute school nurses for grades Pre K-12. Portsmouth School District has one (1) high school, one (1) middle school, and two (2) elementary schools. Substitutes are an important part of the PSD educational team, This is an ideal assignment for those who enjoy working with children and adults in an educational setting and seek flexibility in work schedule and assignments. Substitute must possess excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills; be professional in demeanor and appearance; be punctual, reliable, organized, and flexible; and be capable and interested in working in a variety of assignments and at different school locations on a regular basis. Eligibility Requirements: 1. Hold an associate degree AND a license as a Registered Nurse in RI 2. Current Resume with three contact references (reference letters uploaded to SchoolSpring application). A current National background check is required in order to begin substitute service. Check with the RI Office of the Attorney General at (401) 274-4400 your local RI police department for hours. You will be fingerprinted and a search of statewide criminal history will be initiated. Fingerprints will then be forwarded for a national criminal history check. Day-to-day Substitutes are at-will educational employees subject to RIGL § 28-44-68. Benefit payments for services with nonprofit organizations and educational institutions and governmental entities. Approved candidates must attend a one-time mandatory substitute orientation meeting within one month of employment (information will be provided).
