STARTING DATE: TBD SALARY: Appropriate step on the Classified Salary Schedule commensurate with experience and training REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor BENEFITS: Hospitalization, dental, vision, prescription, and term life insurance; up to three approved personal leave days per year, sick leave, vacation leave, tuition reimbursement, and attendance incentives. WORK WEEK/YEAR: As per Board-adopted calendar (12 month position/260 days) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of five years experience in general maintenance operations High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 70 lbs Ability to push and pull items weighing up to 500 lbs Excellent physical condition Ability to work with students, staff, vendors, and contractors Knowledge of commercial door hardware Perform general maintenance on heating, air ventilation and boiler systems Able to operate and service:
• Low pressure steam boilers to include steam traps and boiler treatment
• Centrifugal chillers to include cooling towers and tower treatment
• HVAC Systems to include both chilled water and DX package units
• Commercial refrigeration equipment
• Commercial electrical systems 480v 3ph and below; able to read electrical wiring diagrams and blueprints
• Power equipment to include but not limited to snowplows, forklifts, mowers, trucks
Experience with Energy Management Systems, Microsoft Excel, Word. Some CAD knowledge helpful Available evenings and weekends Perform general maintenance work inside and outside the physical plant such as ceiling, roof, electrical, welding, plumbing, concrete, masonry, insulation, tile, pump, and fan repairs Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase Self motivated; self directed Ability to perform basic mathematic calculations Conduct routine and periodic inspections of school and facilities as part of a preventative maintenance program Maintain all safety and code requirements Ability to effectively and safely use fork lifts, welding, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tools, and any other tools/equipment related to the job task Detail orientated Excellent driving record; able to pass criminal background check Able to multi-task DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's Degree or higher Training in OSHA rules and regulations Knowledge of energy management practices Previous experience in industrial maintenance “The Lorain County Joint Vocational School District does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability or age in its programs and activities, and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.”
