LIEP Paraprofessional Tutor (TEMPORARY) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Grade: Elementary Revision Date: July 21, 2026 Location: Designated WJCC Schools JOB SUMMARY This position provides part-time, direct supplemental language and academic support to identified multilingual learners in grades K-5. The tutor works under the direction of certified LIEP staff to reinforce English language development, increase access to grade-level content, and support progress toward goals identified in each student's LIEP plan. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Follows division-approved instructional methods, lesson plans, and resources to provide individual or small-group instruction in listening, speaking, reading, writing, academic vocabulary, and content-area language.
• Provides support aligned with students' English language development levels, LIEP plans, the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework, and classroom learning goals, as directed by the LIEP teacher.
• Works under the direct supervision of a certified LIEP teacher within the school setting and the indirect supervision of the ESL Coordinator, ESL Specialist, Principal, and Assistant Principal, as needed.
• Works the identified part-time hours and follows the scheduleestablishedby the ESL Coordinator, ESL Specialist, LIEP teacher, and/or school administrator.
• Usesappropriate languagesupports, including visuals, modeling, sentence frames, guided practice, structured conversation, and approved instructional technology, to help students access grade-level learning.
• Maintainsaccurate attendance, lesson records, student work samples, entry/exit data, and progress-monitoring information and provides records to the LIEP teacher, ESL Specialist, or ESL Coordinator when requested.
• Shares objective observations about student needs, instructional goals, engagement, and progress with the LIEP team to support communication with families, teachers, and school administrators.
• Participatesin and successfully completes required training for delivering supplemental instruction to multilingual learners with fidelity to identified methods, materials, and programs.
• Creates a welcoming and culturally responsive learning environment andexhibitspatient, tactful, and courteous behavior toward students, families, co-workers, and visitors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)
• Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education or obtained an associate degree or higher.
• Ability to communicate through clear and grammatically correct speech and writing and to use basic computing skills.
• Knowledge of educational instructional practices and the ability to follow teacher-developed lesson plans and instructional routines.
• Ability to work effectively with K-5students in individual and small-group settings and to provide patient, encouraging, and age-appropriate support.
• Ability to work respectfully and effectively with students and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Ability to collect,maintain, and communicateaccurate lesson, attendance, and student progress information.
• Ability to interpret and apply division policies, school procedures, confidentiality requirements, and assigned program expectations.
• Proficiencyin word-processing and instructional software and the ability to learn additional programs used for instruction, assessment, and progress monitoring.
• Ability toestablishand maintain effective working relationships with students, families, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.
• Exhibitsa professional attitude, dependable work habits, and effective communication skills in person, by telephone, and electronically.
• Experience working with multilingual learners, knowledge of second-language acquisition, and/orproficiencyin a language other than English is preferred.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None SUPERVISION RECEIVED Performs duties under the supervision of the ESL Coordinator, ESL Specialist and under the direct supervision of building LIEP teacher(s) and building administrator(s). WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Duties are normally performed in a school or classroom setting as designated by school administration or LIEP staff. The employee must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed. The employee may periodically work under pressure to ensure that lesson records, progress-monitoring data, and student information are accurate and provided by established deadlines. Must be physically capable of frequently lifting or moving up to 30 pounds.
