About this role
The Personal Care Aide assignment is a Civil Service Non-Competitive position that works under the supervision of the Classroom Teacher, Building Principal and Director of Pupil Personnel Services. Specific assignments will be made by a professional team including the Principal and Director of Pupil Personnel Services. The Personal Care Aide will play an integral role in supporting students' academic success. They are expected to maintain a climate that is conducive to learning and participation, as well as develop and maintain positive rapport with students. Scope of Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Assist students with on-task behavior and completion of teacher assigned tasks
• Assist students with questions regarding assignments
• Accompany/escort students in exploratory classes and therapy sessions as needed
• Supervise independent or small group work
• Assist in necessary record keeping including data collection (i.e. Applied Behavior Analysis)
• Assist in preparation of instructional materials and supplies and clean up
• Administer alternative testing accommodations when needed
• Proctor exams
• Escort students to various parts of the building
• Assist with student arrival and departure
• Attend to students' physical needs including, toileting, lifting for transfers to/from wheelchair
• Attend to students' medical needs under direction of school nurse
• Monitor and implement behavior intervention plans
• Accompany students and participate in all physical activities including APE and Swimming
• Follow directions of classroom teacher, therapists or other professional staff
• Will complete other duties as assigned by supervisor
