About this role
Primary Purpose: The Technology Informational Technician (IT) provides on demand technical assistance and support for all networks and computer users in the district. This includes software, hardware and operational support to ensure minimal down time and greatest staff productivity.
Typical duties include but are not limited to installing and maintaining computer systems including software and hardware; determining causes of computer and software modifications, repair, or external support assistance.
Qualifications:
• Associates degree or higher in related ?eld is preferred.
• Communicate politely and e?ectively both written and orally.
• Coordinate e?ectively with user personnel and management at all levels.
• Monitor progress of projects.
• Work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• One or more years of microcomputer service and repair experience.
• Demonstrated experience of current data processing techniques including state-of-the-art hardware and software capabilities.
• Demonstrated experience with Windows and Macintosh based equipment, Microsoft O?ce, and Windows 2000 or XP.
• Access to reliable personal transportation and possess a valid driver's license
• Ability to work hours other than 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Evenings and Weekends)
• Knowledge and experience dealing with E-mail and LAN/WAN issues.
• Any of the following certi?cations A+, Network+ MCSP, MCSE are preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
• Assist the Network En or sta? members with problems relating to daily or routine network or computer usage.
• Analyze problems reported through the IT Project Manager, Technology Supervisor or through on-site troubleshooting.
• Diagnose reported problems.
• Determine appropriate solutions for the problem.
• Advise appropriate sta? members regarding possible causes of the problem and precautions necessary to avoid additional issues.
• Handle questions pertaining to software and hardware necessary to facilitate completion of job
• Provide on-site service in support of the IT Project Manager.
• Work cooperatively with IT Lead and IT Director.
• Alert the Technology Sta? of developing issues and formulate potential ?xes.
MENTAL DEMANDS Be flexible as this position experiences frequent interruptions; required to meet strict deadlines; requires concentration and attention to detail; may occasionally deal with distraught or difficult individuals.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Required to sit for prolonged periods; exposed to visual display terminal for prolonged periods; dexterity and precision required in the operation of a computer. Able to lift up to 70 pounds.
