About this role
The School Business Official serves as the District's chief financial officer and Board Secretary/Treasurer under the direction of the Superintendent, overseeing all financial and business operations in accordance with Iowa Department of Education Standards for School Business Officials. Responsibilities include managing the district's budget, accounting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, employee benefits, insurance programs, financial reporting, audits, state and federal compliance, and cash management. The School Business Official provides accurate and timely financial information and multi-year budget projections to support district decision-making, oversees billing and reporting processes, maintains financial records and internal controls, attends and records Board meetings, ensures compliance with applicable laws, policies, and contractual obligations, and engages in continuous professional learning to maintain and improve the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage the district's financial operations.
