WINTER STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH at Saline High School November 15 – March 7 JOB DESCRIPTION Saline Athletics is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Winter Strength & Conditioning Coach to provide consistent, high-quality instruction in strength training and physical development for student-athletes at Saline High School. This position supports athletic performance, injury prevention, and overall student growth while aligning with the educational mission and athletic philosophy of Saline Area Schools. The Winter Strength & Conditioning Coach is expected to serve as an exemplary role model, effective communicator, and skilled educator who emphasizes leadership, integrity, sportsmanship, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the program. QUALIFICATIONS Required Education/Certification

• High school diploma or GED

• Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain prior to start)

Preferred Education/Certification

• Has current or the ability to obtain National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification prior to the position start date

Required Experience

• Previous successful experience working with student-athletes in strength and conditioning programs

• Demonstrated knowledge of strength training principles, conditioning methods, and injury prevention

Preferred Experience

• Experience collaborating with multiple sports programs and their coaching staffs

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Organize, supervise, and lead strength and conditioning programs within the total athletic program

• Design and implement developmentally appropriate strength, conditioning, speed, agility, and quickness programs

• Collaborate with sport coaches to align training programs with sport-specific needs

• Develop and implement strategies to recruit, engage, and retain student-athletes in voluntary offseason strength and conditioning programs across all sports

• Schedule and manage the use of the weight room and training facilities outside the school day, avoiding conflicts with practices and competitions

• Ensure equitable access to strength and conditioning services for all athletic teams

• Assist the Athletic Director with budgeting responsibilities by identifying program needs, recommending equipment purchases, maintaining inventory oversight, and operating within approved budget allocations

• Provide direct supervision of student-athletes at all times during workouts

• Promote safe training practices and injury prevention protocols

• Maintain knowledge of and comply with district, league, and state athletic policies

• Communicate effectively with students, parents, coaches, and administrators

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS Work is performed in school and athletic facility environments and requires physical stamina, mobility, visual and auditory acuity, effective communication skills, adaptability, organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to supervise students in active settings. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise student-athletes during all strength and conditioning sessions

• Advise, coordinate, and support sport coaches in collaboration with the Athletic Director

Strength & Conditioning Coaches report directly to the Athletic Director. EQUIPMENT

• Use, monitor, and maintain strength and conditioning equipment

• Promote proper care and respect for school property and equipment

WORK SCHEDULE

• Seasonal position

• Fall: August 15 – November 14

• Winter: November 15 – March 7 (Winter Break excluded)

• Spring: March 7 – June 14 (Spring Break excluded)

• Summer: June 14 – August 14 (MHSAA Dead Period Week excluded)

• During the school year, the weight Room must be open and supervised 3:00-6:00 PM, Monday through Friday

• Summer Weight Room hours may vary, but must be open 5 hours per weekday based on the needs of teams

• Some evening and weekend hours may be required to include prep work and other administrative responsibilities

FLSA STATUS Exempt TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
