Job Title: Academic Tutor Reports to: Principal, Gibbons Middle School Work Year: 184 day school year FSLA Status: Non-exempt, Tutor Union Job Goal: The GMS Academic Tutor supports students in a multitude of settings helping to ensure that all students a can access the curriculum. Hours: Week with Monday staff meeting: Mondays: 8 hours, Tuesday-Friday 6.75 hours All other work weeks: Monday-Friday 7 hours Hours not to exceed 8 hours per day or 35 hours per week. QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education:
• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field
• Professional Certification Required:
• MA DESE teaching license, eligibility for licensure, or working toward licensure
• CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00
• Specialized Knowledge: child development, curriculum frameworks, growth mindset, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti-bias instruction, social-emotional learning, technology integration
• Preferred Experience:
• Experience working in a diverse setting with English Language Learners
• Experience with students with special needs, including students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges
• Demonstrated skills in effectively and appropriately integrating technology
• Highly desirable to have experience with:

CENTRAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

• Monitors students' understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusts support, instruction, materials or assessments when appropriate;

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES The (CSS) Academic Tutor does not have supervisory responsibilities for other staff. SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary, benefits, and responsibilities per contract between the Westborough School Committee and the Westborough Education Association.
