URBANA SCHOOL DISTRICT #116 TITLE: After School Programming Support Staff (Multiple Positions Available) LOCATION: Urbana Middle School SUPERVISOR: This position reports directly to the teacher(s), coordinator, building administration and/or Director of Grants. SUPERVISES: Students ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:
• Answer questions and provide a reteach of information to students participating in the program.
• Actively participate in the program, contribute to daily instruction, and complete all assigned tasks.
• Initiate and encourage students attending the program. Maintain a positive relationship with the students and staff working in the program.
• Ask for guidance and assistance from the teacher and/or coordinator when unable to assist a student.
• Monitor and supervise the students within assigned areas of the school.
• Support positive approaches for dealing with student behavior
• Utilize de-escalation strategies when needed.
• Arrive and depart on time for your scheduled work.
• Work with small groups on skill-building activities
• Perform other specialized duties as assigned. (i.e. taking attendance, snack counts, program arrival and departure times)
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION
• Associate's Degree or 60 hours of college credit required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
• Experience working in a school setting
• Prior experience working for USD 116 Afterschool Program is preferred

• De-escalation strategies, social and emotional learning strategies, and relationship building skills
• Leadership skills
• Position requires self-initiative and active engagement and participation throughout the day.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Hourly position and assigned number of hours/days.
• Position is for September 8, 2026 - April 29, 2027, Tuesday through Thursday.
• Specific hours to be determined by the coordinator/building administrator/director.
• Orientation meeting scheduled prior to the program startup.
• Stipend
START DATE: August 10, 2026 as scheduled. NOTE: This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit and is not administrative in nature.
