School Year 2026–2027: Grades 9–10 Math Teacher at TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts | Providence, RI TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts, an academically rigorous public charter school for the arts, seeks a Grades 9–10 Math Teacher. The ideal candidate recognizes and celebrates the connections between math and the arts and brings a thoughtful, student-centered approach to teaching and learning. TAPA’s creative community is enriched by the cultural, religious, racial, ethnic, and linguistic diversity of our neurodiverse families, students, and employees. Demographically, nearly all members of the TAPA student body are people of color, predominantly Latinx, with many students speaking both English and Spanish in their homes. A significant portion of TAPA’s student body identifies as members of the LGBTQ+ community. We aim to hire staff members who reflect the diversity of our students and demonstrate an understanding of the strengths and experiences they bring. The Grades 9–10 Math Teacher teaches four classes, each with approximately 20 students, and supports the broader school community through one additional duty. This position is an incredible opportunity to join TAPA’s tight-knit teaching corps and work with students during the foundational first two years of their high school experience. At TAPA, Math is taught through a combination of blended learning utilizing Imagine Learning Classroom, arts integration, and the green-standard Illustrative Math curriculum. TAPA prepares students to successfully meet or exceed Rhode Island’s graduation requirements and perform at or above grade level on all state and local assessments. TAPA meets each student’s individual academic needs using assessment data and continuous feedback while providing clear academic, social, and artistic expectations. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Rhode Island certification in Secondary Mathematics (Grades 7–12), or the ability to secure an Emergency Preliminary Certificate • Experience with and knowledge of secondary mathematics curriculum and instruction • A commitment to and understanding of teaching in an urban, culturally and linguistically diverse school community • Experience using student-centered, responsive approaches to mathematics instruction • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse perspectives, experiences, and strengths that students and staff bring to their work • Ability to identify and develop meaningful connections between mathematics and the arts • Ability to use assessment data and continuous feedback to respond to students’ individual academic needs • Knowledge of adapting instruction for Multilingual Learners and students with disabilities without compromising rigor or high expectations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • At least one year of experience working in an urban school environment and/or lived experience as a student in an urban school community • Experience supporting inclusive learning environments • Demonstrated interest in equitable access to education, student empowerment, or social-emotional learning initiatives • Understanding of relationship-based approaches to teaching and learning • Proficiency in conversational Spanish • Experience using Chromebooks and digital instructional tools in a 1:1 educational setting • Interest in or connection to the local arts community
