Job Details TITLE: 8th Grade Math Teacher - Long Term Substitute REPORTS TO: Building Principal AVAILABLE: August 24, 2026 through January 25, 2026 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary in accordance with PEA Collective Bargaining Agreement PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: the successful candidate will provide engaging, standards-aligned instruction that promotes mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking while fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment. The teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, families and support staff to ensure the academic success of all learners. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-based mathematics instruction aligned with the Pennsylvania Academic Standards.
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology and formative assessments to maximize student engagement and achievement.
• Analyze student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Work cooperatively with the principal, subject supervisors and other staff members to develop an integrated educational program for children.
• Provide meaningful, appropriate learning experiences for assigned groups of middle school students, including differentiated instruction, to meet the individual needs of middle school students.
• Properly refer to the IST process those children experiencing unusual difficulties.
• Effectively implement IEP's and the 504 plans of identified children using the resources that are provided.
• Maintain a plan book as directed by the principal and submit plan book for review upon request. Have daily plans readily available for the use of a substitute in the event of absence.
• Evaluate and record children's progress and attendance as a basis for planning and reporting to parents.
• Maintain acceptable standards of discipline in the classroom which promotes learning and supports the school-wide discipline plans.
• Provide immediate care and protect injured students until the services of nurse or other medical personnel are available.
• Follow building's safety-emergency management plan.
• Perform extra duties such as lunchroom, bus, or recess as required.
• Support school programs and maintain a high standard of ethical professional conduct when dealing with associates, parents and other members of the community.
• Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree; a valid PA Mathematics Certificate Gr. 7 -12 or PA Mid-Level Mathematics Certificate (Gr. 4-8) required
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Clearances must be within 12 months and TB must be within 90 days of hire date.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Choose one of the following.)

The incumbent should be able to exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. LIGHT WORK: If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the individual sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. The incumbent should be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. MEDIUM WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. HEAVY WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
VERY HEAVY WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
