About this role
Job Summary: Lehigh Valley Academy is seeking Instructional Support Teachers (IST) to join the 6-8 Special Education Team. ISTs work under the direction of the special education teachers to provide in-classroom support and small group instruction for students. This position is full-time and requires a candidate who is flexible and willing to provide coverage for teacher absences. Key Responsibilities:
• Classroom Support: Assist classroom teachers in providing instruction and support to students during class activities.
• Small Group Instruction: Lead small group instruction sessions to reinforce lessons and provide additional support to students who need it.
• Teacher Coverage: Provide coverage for classroom teachers during absences, ensuring continuity of instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Student Engagement: Foster a supportive and engaging classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and learning.
• Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers to understand lesson plans and instructional goals, ensuring seamless support for students.
• Student Assessment: Assist in assessing student progress and providing feedback to classroom teachers to help inform instructional strategies.
• Classroom Management: Help maintain classroom order and discipline, following school policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Interest in developing a career in education is required.
• Experience working with elementary school students is required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students.
• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing needs and provide coverage as needed.
