Job Title: Part-Time Kitchen Assistant We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a part-time Part-Time Bilingual Kitchen Assistant in our school's food services department. As a Kitchen Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to support our kitchen staff in preparing and serving nutritious meals to our students. You will assist in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and school lunchroom, ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards. Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in meal preparation and assembly of preplated meals
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations before and after each use
• Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries, checking for quality and accuracy
• Set up food stations, trays, and serving lines for breakfast and lunch
• Serve meals to students ensuring proper portioning and presentation
• Monitor and report any issues or concerns regarding food quality, equipment, or supplies to the Food Services Coordinator
• Follow food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper handwashing, safe food handling practices, and temperature control
• Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and notifying the Food Services Coordinator of any shortages or expired items
• Collaborate with the kitchen team and cafeteria staff to maintain a safe and efficient work flow.
• Support in cleaning and organizing the kitchen area, including dishwashing and general cleaning duties
• Adhere to all school policies and guidelines related to food service
Qualifications
• ServSafe Certification
• Previous experience in a school cafeteria is preferred but not required
• Ability to speak in English and Spanish
• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Flexibility to work during school hours, including early mornings, scheduled full day trainings and occasional evenings for special events
• Ability to interact positively with students and staff in a school setting

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
• Part-time employment, 10-months, exempt, standard workweek of 28 hours per week
• This position is for in-person work at our location
• 179 instructional days, 194 work days
• In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable
• To be eligible to work for Pan American Academy Charter School, you must complete and submit background clearances and paperwork prior to your start date. We are able to accept clearances if they are less than one year old from the date a new employee presents them to Human Resources.
