Job Title: SLP - Student Intern Wage/Hour Status: Volunteer/Unpaid Reports to: Host Supervisor/Special Services/HR Work Days: Based upon Course Assignment Dept./School: Assigned Department Date Revised: 7.21.2026 Qualifications:

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders.

• Must be officially assigned by the university to complete a clinical practicum, internship, or externship placement with Waller ISD.Active enrollment in a graduate-level program from an accredited institution specializing in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders;

• Formal university authorization for completion of a clinical practicum, internship, or externship placement within Waller ISD.

• Must provide a current driver's license, student photo ID, or other state/government-issued photo identification;

• Must successfully complete the district's background review process, including required fingerprinting, at the applicant's expense;

• Must provide evidence of eligibility to work in the United States in accordance with federal requirements.

• Must comply with all district confidentiality, safety, and supervision requirements while on district property.

Working Conditions:

• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding students, staff, and campus operations at all times during the internship experience.

• Comply with all district and campus procedures, guidelines, and directions related to the internship assignments.

• Professional dress is required at all times during the student teaching assignment, consistent with district expectations.

• Interns will coordinate with district staff regarding placement details and expectations.

• Demonstrate respect for the instructional environment and support the district's primary mission of educating students and serving families.

• Interns remain under the supervision of certified district personnel and must not assume independent responsibility as a Speech-Language Pathologist role.

• Cooperation: Work collaboratively with campus staff as a contributing member of the instructional team, demonstrating respect, consideration, and willingness to support others.

• Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in response to changes in duties, procedures, supervision, or work environment; accept feedback and use constructive criticism to improve performance.

• Punctuality: Report to and depart from the campus/district according to district, campus, and university requirements.

• Attendance: Student teachers are required to maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with district expectations.

Working Conditions

• Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and standard instructional equipment; may include specialized equipment such as an AED (as applicable to placement).

• Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

• Motion: Frequent walking throughout campus.

• Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (generally under 15 pounds), including instructional materials and classroom supplies.

• Environment: Work performed inside and occasionally outside; exposure to typical school-related noise levels.

• Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work in a dynamic instructional environment that may include varying schedules and responsibilities.
