About this role

JOB SUMMARY: The Advanced Manufacturing/Facilities Management Teacher provides direct classroom instruction in the area of Advanced Manufacturing and Facilities Management; establishes effective rapport with students; motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for learning in accordance with each student's ability; and, establishes good relationships with appropriate business leaders, parents and other staff members. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provides direct classroom instruction to students in the area of Advanced Manufacturing and Facilities Management.

• Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student's progress and interprets the school program.

• Assesses students' skills and growth through pre-testing and post testing.

• Provides an atmosphere which encourages students to find success and develops career goals.

• Maintains contact with the business community through advisory committee meetings.

• Stays current in changing technologies.

• Has the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Has the ability to climb a step ladder.

• Evaluates students' progress, keeps appropriate records and prepares reports.

• Maintains professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the school and/or self-selected professional growth activities.

• Maintains regular, on-time attendance.

• Reacts to change productively and performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Has obtained or is eligible for MSDE certification in Trades/Industry and program areas.

• Has at least five years of outstanding performance in business area. This experience must have occurred within the past 10 years. Education may be substituted for part of business experience.

• Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work with persons of diverse backgrounds.

• Has outstanding references from his or her immediate supervisor(s).

• Has good interpersonal communication skills.

• Has a willingness and capacity to work beyond the normal workday.

Skills/Knowledge Preferred

• Understanding of workplace safety

• Ability to use a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine

• Knows the manufacturing design process

• Knows how to perform basic facility inspections

• Understands risk management strategies

PAY & HOURS: This position is a 10 month position with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Caroline County Board of Education, Teacher Salary Scale. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge, experience, skills and abilities related to this position.
