About this role
Summary: The Academic Interventionist will support students in the continuous improvement process in reading and/or mathematics. The Academic Interventionist will provide support to Professional Learning Communities (PLC), Response to Intervention (RtI) instruction, and other school staff in implementing the Multi Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) problem solving process and selecting/implementing academic interventions and ensuring treatment integrity. Academic Interventionists will assist teachers in identifying learning goals for students and apply research-based interventions with fidelity to ensure students' academic growth. Qualifications:
• At least five (5) years of experience in successful teaching (K-6)
• Working knowledge of core K-6 reading and math instructional practices
• Working knowledge of Multi Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and the problem-solving process
• Working knowledge of research-based and best practice academic interventions in reading and/or mathematics
• Demonstrated organizational skills, (planning, implementing, evaluation)
• Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with individuals, teams, and groups, (teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff)
• Demonstrated knowledge of teaching diverse learners
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
• Valid Virginia Teaching License with K-6 Endorsement
• Master's Degree Preferred
Salary: Range based on the 2026-2027 Teacher Salary Scale is $54,590 - $85,329 with additional supplemental pay for an advanced degree. Workday: Full time/10 month/200 Day Contract Location: Daniel Morgan Middle School Position Start: 2026-2027 school year
